Don’t block your blessings

“Is it human nature to hyperfocus on what is going wrong?” could be a question you ask yourself when you find yourself focusing on all the situations that have gone awry at the end of the day.

There may have been 9 positive encounters, but 1 negative encounter is enough to rock your boat and keep you up all night.

Haven’t we all been there before?

Yet during my meditation, my attention was brought to the question: what if we're focusing on the wrong thing?

 The tendency to place all your focus and energy on the “wrong” things can actually block your blessing. When we focus on the negative encounters and/or situations, our mind is stuck in the past. As we repeat the hurtful/ disturbing scene again and again (deliberately or not), we are re-experiencing those scenes even if it is not happening in the current moment.

One rule of the mind is it follows the instructions you give it. It does not matter if you are imagining the best case scenario that is not happening yet in your real life or if you are rethinking a negative experience that has already happened in the past.

Whatever thoughts you think of - true events that have/ will happen or false thoughts that are purely imagination, your brain will respond to them.

This is why I often remind my clients to:

  • focus on the good

  • acknowledge how far you’ve come

  • recognise the efforts you’ve put in as you grow and heal into the person you are becoming

When we think of a positive experience or feel gratitude for a past difficult situation, our body releases chemicals that are the total opposite of what it would release when we are rethinking a stressful situation.

When we think of a positive encounter or feel immense gratitude, our body responds to those thoughts and helps us become more receptive to the dreams and desires we have.  

While it is crucial to have healthy levels of scepticism, to stay diligent, hardworking and disciplined, it is also imperative for you to open your heart to receive - love, support, and help because these are available to you. 


I'll love for you to open up your journal and ponder on these questions

  1. what inner force encourages you to pursue a particular goal? is it the sense of personal fulfillment, inner pleasure or external gratification and recognition?

  2. are you allowing yourself to dream big or are you limiting yourself, waiting for reality to prove otherwise?

Affirmation to repeat to yourself:
I am open to receive that which is for my highest and greatest good.


All that you want is available to you. Allow yourself to envision all that could go right for you and magnetise the positive outcome you desire. You are more than you think you are, it is time to step into that.
